Mediation is a settlement process that assists couples in putting together a voluntary resolution to their differences through confidential discussions and problem solving. The mediator is a confidential, neutral third party who assists the couple guide and facilitate the divorce process by focusing on their familial needs, exploring alternatives that work for everyone, and creating the final agreement. The advantages of mediation are vast. The primary advantage being the parties- not a judge or jury- develop and agree on the solutions that work best for them. Additionally, mediation is significantly less expensive in comparison to litigation, parties are able to solve matters much quicker and easier than in court, and it still allows for parties to go to court if a mutually acceptable solutions cannot be reached.
